Sita Borahm Chay

Violinist Sita Borahm Chay is one of New York’s most versatile performers. She is well known for her improvisations which range from 18th Century music to contemporary opera, rock and jazz.

Miss Chay was accepted in Manhattan School of music college division at age of fifteen and as a freshman at Manhattan school of music, she won a concertmaster position. She also served as a concertmaster of New World Youth Orchestra, Manhattan Opera Orchestra. She has won numerous prizes awards including one from Fischoff International Competition and Excellent Artist Award from Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

She has given concerts throughout the US including concerts in Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. As a member of Berkshire Bach Ensembles, she has released a live recording of the New Years Eve concert in 2004. She has performed and worked with such artists as Emerson String Quartet, Kenneth Cooper, Duksoo Kim, Pamela Frank, Nadia Solemo Sonenberg, Frank Huang, Richard O’Neil and Robert Craft, the student of Stravinsky and Scheonberg.

She directed and performed at the major fashion show for Imitation of Christ for New York Fashion week in 2002. She was also a member of the improvised opera group, “Play it by Ear ” under the direction of Rhoda Levine, the director of City Opera and faculty of Julliard. From 2009 to 2011 Miss Chay performed as a member of the Korean Modern Folk Music Performance Group and toured throughout Middle Asia and Europe.
