This is Outside
What is the importance of the connection between architecture and its uninterested surroundings? This exhibition documents the outside of architecture and opens a conversation on the role this territory has in the formation of space.
This is Outside was originally produced as a set of 6 hand bound books. It collects color negative photographs taken while studying architecture throughout Europe and Scandinavia as well as printed matter that was found, gathered and snatched during the travels. The original publication will be exhibited alongside selected photographs. A brief gallery talk by the creators will accompany the exhibition.
Mandy Johnson and James Jarzyniecki each received a Master of Architecture degree with distinction from the Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA. Together they pursue the fuzzy horizon between art and architecture. Their work has been exhibited at BSA SPACE Boston and they currently live and practice in New York City.
