Kitty Zeldis is the pen name of the author of seven previous novels and twenty-eight books for children. She has also published numerous articles, essays and short fiction in literary and national magazines. Zeldis lives in Park Slope with her husband and two highly indulged Pomeranians.
Kitty Zeldis will be reading from NOT OUR KIND. NOT OUR KIND is about two women—one Jewish, one not—in postwar New York City. The novel looks at the lives of two women on the cusp of change, and asks readers how much our identities can and should define us. The experiences of these two seem to be a gentle precursor to the massive cultural, sociological and technological changes that will happen for the millions of Americans in peacetime.
Sonia Taitz’s books have been praised by The New York Times, Vanity Fair, People, and The Chicago Tribune, among others. THE WATCHMAKER’S DAUGHTER, was nominated for the Sophie Brody Memoir Prize by the American Library Association, and awarded a Best Memoir medal by Foreword Reviews. Her latest book is a novel, GREAT WITH CHILD, which tells the seriocomic story of a young, ambitious law associate and how her love life and career are upended by an unexpected pregnancy.
Sonia Taitz will be reading from her prize-winning memoir, THE WATCHMAKER’S DAUGHTER, which has been described as both “heartbreaking and hilarious.” It is a first-generation American story of a girl born to two Holocaust survivors, and how she negotiates the delicate balance between embracing the world and remaining loyal to the world of her parents.
