The work is an investigation into my subjective position in the world.  Performing for the camera and through the use of symbols, my interest lies in revealing glimpses of intangible perceptions and experiences unfolding in time. Real elements, like threads and rope, are sometimes incorporated into the image.  I have worked with photography, video and performance, but my work is not attached to any specific medium.
Ana Dantas was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has participated in several group exhibitions, including: Afluêcias at Martha Pagy Escritório de Arte, TRIO Biennial at Parque das Ruínas, Algum Lugar at Galeria da Gávea and Novíssimos at Galeria de Arte Ibeu in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil;  Physis | Soma – o corpo, a expressão e a poética do movimento at Casa das Rosas, São Paulo, Brazil;  Fotografia Transversa at Fundação Vera Chaves Barcellos in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil; Under the Subway Video Art Night at The ANNEX Art Social Space Project, Thought I Buried It at Chashama 1351 Gallery and Women Experimental Films at The Shed Space in New York.  In 2013 she was one of the nominated artists for Brazil’s Pipa Prize.  Currently, she lives and works in New York.
