“Fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth.”
― Albert Camus
“While we read a novel, we are insane—bonkers. We believe in the existence of people who aren’t there, we hear their voices… Sanity returns (in most cases) when the book is closed.”
― Ursula K. Le Guin
I make fictional photographs, ones which (I hope) encourage the viewer to use their imaginations as well as to question the verisimilitude of the image.
I’m seduced by spectacle and always try to infuse some bit of it in my imagery.
I am interested in convoluting time, both in terms of the internal pictorial narrative and in my studio practice. I use 21st c. electronic hardware but the objects I make, are sewn by hand and influenced by 17th-19th c. imagery.
Mostly, making things entertains me and (at least I like to pretend) keeps me sane.
