abi5Abigail Wilensky is a performing violinist and Suzuki Violin Teacher in the New York City Area. She manages a small studio of young violinists out of her home in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and is also on the faculty at the Turtle Bay Music School in Manhattan. In addition to teaching, she enjoys reaching out to her community through classical performances, as well as participating in a variety of bands performing throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Her band, Sam Friend and the Freckles, performs regularly in the city and was selected in the top 5 bands originating in Southern Florida of 2012. Abigail studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and Vanderbilt University and is originally from Memphis, Tennessee.
Edited HeadshotTimothy Barrus is a violinist who has charmed audiences with his original interpretations and fresh point of view since his concerto debut with orchestra at age ten.  At a past chamber music performance, Timothy’s playing was recognized for its “…precision, passion and character” by The Washington Post.  As an avid chamber musician, Timothy has won numerous awards including 1st place at the Chamber Music International Competition as 1st violinist of the Asiago String Quartet. He has also received recognition from DownBeat Magazine Student Awards in Chamber Music as well as Solo Performance categories.
Timothy currently plays with the Bergen Symphony Orchestra in New Jersey where he serves as concertmaster. He has also served as guest-concertmaster for the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, One World Symphony, and Waco Symphony Orchestra.
A native Texan, Timothy attended Baylor University where he received his Bachelor of Music degree, magna cum laude. His mentors included Dr. Bruce Berg and Dr. Eka Gogichashvili. When he is not practicing his violin, Timothy can be found fine-tuning his yoga postures at hot yoga studios throughout New York City.
