Ann Farmer is a freelance journalist and former television producer who writes for magazines and newspapers primarily about pop culture, law and human interest stories. Her contributions to the regional section of The New York Times includes hundreds of stories about crime and mayhem. Her profiles of television personalities for Emmy magazine includes Lena Dunham, Claire Danes, Michael J. Fox and Jimmy Fallon. While covering the careers of television directors for the DGA Quarterly, she’s had fun on the sets of The Good Wife, Late Night Show with David Letterman, and Law & Order SVU. Ann writes personal essays in her downtime that sometimes get published.
Cindy Cooper is an independent journalist, author and playwright who often writes about women’s rights and human rights (yes, women’s rights ARE human rights). Her books include Who Said It Would Be Easy (with Brooklynite Liz Holtzman) and Mockery of Justice: The True Story of the Dr. Sam Sheppard Murder Case, made into a CBS-TV movie, and five others. Her articles have appeared in Ms., Women’s eNews, The Nation, Glamour, Marie Claire, In These Times, Canadian Woman Studies, The Feminist Press, On The Issues Magazine, Poz, National Law Journal and others. Her plays, including How She Played the Game; Silence Not: A Love Story; Sentences and Words,10 other full-length and 20 short plays, have been published in 15 books and produced in New York at Primary Stages, The Women’s Project, WOW, Theaterworks USA, Wings, Art and Work Ensemble, The Tolerance Museum, The Culture Club, as well as in Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Chicago, Reno, New Jersey, England, Israel, Canada, Hungary and Finland, and elsewhere. She has won awards from Pen and Brush, Samuel French Off-Off-Broadway Playwrights Festival, Malibu International Playwrights, Nantucket Playwrights Theater, and was a two-time Jerome Fellow at the Playwrights Center in Minneapolis. She produces a prochoice theater compilation, Words of Choice, and was named the Anne E. Fisher Champion of Choice by NARAL ProChoice America in 2009. Cindy is currently working on a play about 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Winner Liu Xiaobo (who is in prison in China), and a book, Dear Anne: Prisoners Writing Diaries Behind Bars, with collaborator Maureen McNeil. A one-time practicing lawyer, she now gets her greatest pleasure from writing comedy sketches and playing Boggle late at night, sometimes simultaneously.
